Residential Epoxy Flooring in the Triad
Seamless garage, mudroom, laundry and patio floors that clean with a damp mop.
The Concrete You Actually Own in a Triad Home
Ascent Epoxy Greensboro installs epoxy and polyaspartic floors in Triad homes, from the garage slab to the mudroom, laundry room, porch and patio. The typical house around Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem dates from the mid-1980s to 1990 (median build years 1984 to 1990) and sits on a crawlspace, so the living areas have a wood subfloor and the concrete is limited to a few places: the garage slab, a mudroom or laundry room poured with it, a covered porch, a back patio, and in some Winston-Salem homes a basement. Those slabs are 35 to 40 years old now. They have been painted, stained, patched and pitted, and the garage slab has usually taken decades of dripping oil and tracked-in road brine. A properly installed epoxy floor changes that — it seals the slab under one seamless, non-porous surface that clay, grit and spills simply cannot soak into.
Here is the part most homeowners never hear: it is not the epoxy that fails, it is the prep. A 35-year-old slab carries old paint, sealer and oil in its pores, and it can hold more moisture than it looks like it does — especially a below-grade basement floor or an older slab poured without a vapor retarder. We diamond-grind every slab to a clean, open profile instead of acid-etching it, run an ASTM moisture test before a drop of product goes down, and when the numbers come back high we install a moisture-mitigation primer first. Skip that step and a beautiful new floor bubbles within a year. We do not skip it.
Mudrooms and laundry rooms get flake or solid-color finishes that hide the red clay that comes home from ball fields and job sites and wipe clean in seconds. Porches and patios get a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat with an anti-slip texture, so the color does not amber in the summer sun and the surface holds your footing after a thunderstorm. What a Triad Home Asks of a Floor
Six reasons homeowners from Summerfield to Thomasville choose a coated slab over paint, tile and bare concrete.
Zero seams
Nothing for Grit and Damp to Get Into
One continuous, non-porous surface — no grout lines or tile joints to hold dirt. Muggy-season damp, spills and tracked-in clay stay on top, where a damp mop takes them, instead of soaking into grout, carpet or wood.
Mop-dry
Handles Slush and Summer Storms
When January slush comes in on your boots or a summer thunderstorm tracks in from the patio, epoxy shrugs it off. It will not swell, stain, or grow mold the way carpet, wood, and laminate do — and after a wet day it mops dry in minutes instead of holding moisture for days.
Your palette
Metallic, Flake and Solid-Color Epoxy Finishes That Fit the House
Warm grays and earth-tone flake blends that hide tracked-in clay, a crisp white-and-gray flake, a swirled metallic, or a high-gloss solid that brightens a windowless laundry room — we build a finish that suits a brick ranch or a newer two-story alike. Preview it in the Floor Studio, then we build the floor to match.
UV-stable
Porch and Patio Floors That Keep Their Color
On a covered porch or back patio, the UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat holds its color through the summer sun instead of ambering, and an anti-slip texture keeps your footing after a thunderstorm.

A Detail Buyers Notice
Buyers tour a lot of houses in a weekend, and plenty of them have the same stained, bare garage slab. A spotless coated garage, mudroom or basement reads as "well cared for" against the cracked tile and bare concrete down the street — a modest upgrade that helps a listing show better.

A Warranty You Can Read
In a humid climate, tile grout stains and lets go, laminate cups, and carpet holds the damp like a sponge. A coating installed on a properly moisture-tested, diamond-ground slab is built to keep its bond and its gloss for decades — and ours comes with a written 25-year warranty against delamination, peeling, cracking and adhesion failure that you can read before you sign.
How humidity affects durability →How We Resurface a 1980s Triad Slab
Five steps, every one of them adjusted for Triad conditions — older slabs, brine at the garage door, and the humidity windows that decide when a coating will actually cure right.
Free Consultation
~45 minBlake's crew comes to your home — Burlington, Kernersville, Thomasville, anywhere in the Triad — to look at the actual slab, take a moisture reading, talk through finishes, and hand you a written, line-item quote. If the slab may need a moisture-mitigation primer (about $1 per square foot) or scaling repair, that is priced on the quote up front. Schedule yours free.
Surface Preparation
2–4 hrsWe diamond-grind the concrete down to a clean, open profile so the coating can lock in, and the full ASTM moisture test (F1869 or F2170) is run before any coating goes down. On an older slab or a basement floor this number can run high — when it does, a moisture-mitigation primer goes down before anything else. If a quote you are comparing never mentions this test, ask about it.
Crack Repair
30–60 minThirty-plus years of use leave older slabs with hairline cracks, spalls, and divots — and a garage slab often has scaled patches near the door where winter brine sat. We grind out the loose material, fill every one with a crack-repair compound and grind it flush before a finish coat ever goes down.
Multi-Coat Application
3–5 hrsDown go the primer, the decorative body coat, and a UV-stable topcoat. We watch the temperature and humidity and lay each layer inside the window where it will cure hard — not in the muggy peak of an August afternoon when the air would fight the chemistry.
Cure & Enjoy
Per systemWith the polyaspartic topcoat we install, walk-on is usually within hours and vehicles typically the next day or two, depending on the system and the weather; epoxy-only systems need several days. Then the floor is ready for the dog, the kids, and the muddy boots. You get the walk-on and drive-on times for your system in writing, simple care instructions and a written 25-year warranty spelling out exactly what is covered.

Residential Epoxy FAQs for the Triad
Common questions from Triad homeowners about coating the concrete floors in a house.
Typical ranges, not a quote: solid-color epoxy runs about $4 to $6 per square foot, flake systems with a polyaspartic topcoat about $4.50 to $8, and metallic or quartz finishes about $8 to $12 or more. Crack and spall repair adds roughly $100 to $500 or more depending on the slab, and a moisture barrier about $1 per square foot. A two-car garage, the biggest slab in most Triad homes, usually lands between about $2,000 and $4,000; smaller rooms cost less in total but a little more per foot because the setup is the same. Call (336) 358-6309 for a free on-site estimate, or preview a finish in the Floor Studio.
Any room with a concrete slab under it. On a typical Triad house built over a crawlspace that means the garage first, then the spaces that share its slab or sit on their own: a mudroom or laundry room off the garage, a workshop or storage room, a covered porch or a concrete patio, and a basement where the house has one. Rooms framed over the crawlspace have a wood subfloor rather than concrete and take a different product, so we tell you on the walkthrough which of your floors are candidates.
In most cases the old flooring comes up first. Tile, vinyl and glued-down carpet pad have to be removed and the adhesive ground off so the coating bonds to clean concrete rather than to whatever was stuck there before. Then we diamond-grind the slab, run the ASTM moisture test and repair cracks before any coating goes down. We look at the existing floor during the free consultation and tell you exactly what removal involves; call (336) 358-6309 to schedule yours.
Yes, as a secondary service. Most Triad homes sit on a crawlspace, but basements are noticeably more common in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, and a poured basement slab takes a coating well. A below-grade slab often reads higher for moisture, so the ASTM test matters even more there, and a moisture barrier goes down first when the numbers call for it. Solid-color and flake systems both work in a basement; see our Winston-Salem page for more.
Indoors, the air conditioning helps, but the slab still has to be warmer than the dew point and the humidity inside the product's window. Greensboro's muggy season runs from late May to late September, so on those days we take slab-temperature and humidity readings before mixing, run dehumidification where a room needs it, and time each coat to the readings. Garages, porches and patios open to outside air get early-morning starts. Rescheduling a day beats a floor that never cures right.
The floors we install carry a written 25-year warranty against delamination, peeling, cracking and adhesion failure, which tells you what a properly prepped system is built to do. The variables are the same everywhere: how the slab was ground, whether it was moisture-tested, which topcoat went on and how hard the room is used. Interior rooms see far less abuse than a garage, so a polyaspartic-topped mudroom or laundry floor should keep its gloss for decades with nothing more than a damp mop. We bring the warranty document to the estimate visit; call (336) 358-6309 to book yours.
